1/3 of all children are overweight.
Today’s children are the 1st. generation in recorded history whose life expectancy is shorter than their parents.
The average American child consumes < 1 serving of vegetables per day, on average with more than half coming from French fries.
Children are the largest demographic receiving food aid in the US.
The food groups most often missing in most food aid programs and food pantries is fresh fruit and vegetables.
There are over 3,000 chemicals approved for routine use in our foods today.
Agricultural economists predict that with our current farming methods and demands, we will run out of fertile farmland within 40 years.

As the best way to decrease soil erosion and improve soil fertility, those same economists promote dramatically increasing the number of small farms and gardens throughout the country grown organically by non-farmers.
This is not meant to nor will it replaces farms and farmers but, instead, it will take some of the pressure off of them and their land so that they can continue to incorporate practices healthier to the earth and the people.
